Lulu’s Time Bomb Day and Night Serums

Lately I have been feeling the effect of too much booze and general late nights and so hallelujah for this product. In their words 'Lulu’s Time Bomb are declaring all out war on the biggest enemies of youthful skin – dullness, dryness and loss of elasticity.'

My skin suffers from all the above - so I decided to try out Lulu’s Youth Explosion Day Serum and Lulu’s Derm Warfare Night Serum.  This extra fire-power contains ingredients clinically proven to slow down the ageing process, improve tone and elasticity and plump up skin with its very own internal scaffolding system! Confused? Don't be! Buy it, Use it! Result?  A more taut, healthy looking skin, better skin tone and an all over youthful glow . . . Oh and it looks pretty in your toiletry cupboard - I love the simplicity of the bottles.

Available from QVC, lulusplace.co.uk, Amazon ,Victoria Health and selected dept stores inc Fenwick.

Putting it Simply..

Simple products have always been a staple in my beauty regime, whether its eye make up remover or toner, I have always used a product from their range.

Now they have branched out with 'Radiance Brightening Facial Wash' which contains Mango extract as well Vitamin C - which my skin is in desperate need of!

So I tried out this new facial wash - the wash feels silky and goes on so smoothly its like moisturiser. There is nothing worse than that sticky face wash you put on and have to wipe forever to get off!

My skin definitely glowed after too - I'm one happy customer!

Tropical Treat

So this tropical trend seems to have got a little out of hand a la Pixie Lott....

So I decided to pull together a little tropical themed look without the overkill.

This pair of tropical trousers from Topshop puts you smack bang on trend, teamed with this fun moustache tee from Wildfox. Pop on a bit of denim and some connies (thats Converse!) and you've managed to wear tropical without looking like you're wearing your grandmother's curtains.

Leopard print jeans

So we all crave having legs like Elle - lets not lie! And basically anyone that is able to pull off the latest trend, the leopard print jean. Current / Elliot range of jeans were a massive hit with celebs back in 2011. Seen on the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker and Isla Fisher, they were in a subtle brown and grey shade - v desirable.

However I have gone against all warnings that you need legs like drainpipes to pull off these wonders.

I picked myself some mint green numbers from Primark yesterday at only £15 a pop! In your face SJP - yes I did just, sort of, insult SJ - but I can't help but be happy with my bargain.

I also eyed up these Urban Outfitters and New Look ones - but still very happy with my minty fresh look. Who needs subtlety eh!

Ankle socks

A trend which is a toughy to pull off if you aren't blessed with the skiniest ankles around and seen most recently on Mulberry's catwalk. Obviously on skinny little legs.

I have tried a few out and decided that the floral numbers on the left are definitely the winners. They are the easiest, and cheapest (all three below were only £1 each from Primark!) way of updating an outfit.

Oh and the shoes are available to buy on Ebay from Dune, love them but I just can't walk in them! - Check out the listing here

Kimono

So my new obsession is fringed kimonos - I've been eyeing up a few on Ebay. But I have just found the perfect vintage inspired number here!

Can you believe its DP's! Only £31.99 too - perfect for me to pull off this boho look which I continually want to channel ...

Stiletto nails

So I gave in and decided to file my nails into claw like things. Here's some pics below - the nail varnish is by FashionistA and available at Superdrug. Oh and a apologies for the state of my cuticles - me needs a proper manicure!

Monday 19 March 2012

Is this turning into a food review blog???

Well it seems I have dined out quite a lot this week!

It was Mother's Day on Sunday and what better way of celebrating then popping to Holland Park for a rather posh meal at Marco Pierre White's Belvedere.

Don't mind if I do!

It has a definite feeling of the old school with a piano being played whilst you dine, I felt I was being transported back in time when I arrived. Bear in mind I was rather hungover after drinking waay too many dodgy shots in a dubious bar the night before - the calming atmosphere of the restaurant and large glass of red wine definitely helped!

I chose -

Seared scallops with a shallot puree

 Roast Beef

Apple Tart Tatin (no pic as the red wine had fully kicked in and alas I forgot - here's a pic of the menu instead!)

Mum avec the smallest serving of sorbet ever

A lovely Mother's Day and in fact a great week of dining!

Jewellery good enough to eat...

So I have a penchant for jewellery and the crazier and out there, the better. Here is my latest find - Punky Allsorts

A range of crazy pieces created by Madame Allsorts based around food, social media and all sorts it ranges from rings, necklaces and bracelets.

I'm a big fan of the Easter range which has just been released - A cream egg necklace and bracelet. Super fun and very festive!

Other pieces I love include the gummy bear ring and this bunny ring.

Worn by the likes of Katy Perry and Lady Gaga - obvsies I will totally look like them as I wear them out and about.

See the full range here.

The Arts Club

This uber exclusive club has been around for an age and after much anticipation I managed to pop in for dinner and drinks. Lucky me.

I chose a very fishy combo -

Prawn cocktail and then cod with mussels.

However I was v v jealous of the others who ordered the nicest prawns I have ever seen or tasted. They were meaty and yet light. Coated in what seems like butter and garlic, you can't go wrong with this combo, and were just INCRED!

The sides were also fab! Creamed spinach was a highlight - it was more like mashed spinach, and again tasted like garlic has been mixed together with it. So all in all a garlic and fish filled meal. Perfect!

Desert was an amazing lemon tart - creamy and light.

Oh and not to forget the fab celeb spots - Joan Collins, Tamara Beckwith, Hugh Grant and a VERY drunk Patsy Kensit.

Kandee Shoes

If you haven't already heard about this - then get listening!

Kandee was launched by designer Josh Wayman and he has now just released his fourth collection 'LOUD'

The campaign was styled by the wonderful Alexis Knox of Notion and New Look : Style the Nation. (check out the pics on their site here )

The new range is something the Spice Girls would have loved in there hayday! Ponyskin smiley face printed ankle boots, studded Mary-Janes, colours that pop so bright you'll need sunglasses.

They've been seen on the likes of Nicola Roberts and subsequently sold out in the particular style she wore, 'Caramel Kisses'!

'Loud' is the signature name of both the SS12 collection and the 'Caramel Kisses' replacement shoe. A colour blocking mish mash with a bit crystals for good measure. Less is more? No! More is definately more!

Here's some of more of my faves from the new collection, including flats which have been introduced to the collection should you be a little scared of the sky high shoes. Prices start from £110

Zara Zara Zara

So I popped into Zara after work yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted with a candy store of colours. Stunning ice cream shades, delicates fabrics and beautifully embroidered pieces.

Definately a far cry from the crazy colour blocking and neons of last Spring Summer which I found, quite frankly, painful to the eyes.

My fave piece was this peach silk maxi skirt - soon to be mine.

I would team this with a simple cream tee, fringed bag, studded heel and light leather jacket.

I'm very very excited for Spring to actually hit us now so I can debut this new look.

Creepers

Not just for ditch kids anymore - creepers have gone commercial. Here are my newest pair - with some faux fur as well! Only £25 from Ebay.co.uk - my new obsession.

Underground creepers are obviously what I want - however with prices starting at £95, I just can't stretch at the moment. Here's a selection of my faves though just to admire and hope that someone fancies buying them for me????

The collar

This trend has gone from strength to strength.

From catwalks of AW11 you couldn't avoid the look and then it continued all the way through to SS12 for the high street.

From high end embellished collars such as Joanne Hynes and Miu Miu

To more quirky features, such as this triple collared shirt from Rare

Or finally this elegant lazer cut collar from Topshop.

I'm rocking this trend with a polka dot shirt from Glamourous and a wooly mustard knit from Quiz - all for under £30. We can all wish for Miu Miu I suppose!

Kopapa Cafe Restaurant

One of the good things about working in fashion is that we get to try new bars and restaurants regularly.

The most recent on my list was Kopapa Cafe and Restaurant  in Covent Garden.

A very unassuming restaurant, which struck me as quite 'diner' like with its tiled floors and simple wooden tables and chairs. Simplicity however proves to be just right.

After much ooing and arrghing over the menu I settled for 'Roast miso cod, Jerusalem artichokes, confit shallot, bok choy, soy ginger beurre blanc'

My last experience of miso cod was at Nobu so I wasn't expecting a match however I was pleasantly surprised. Excuse me for sounding all Masterchef but the flavours were incredible. The richness of the shallot and the lightness of bok choy complimented the delicate and flavoursome dish.

On the side rosemary and garlic tossed chips which were perfectly cooked.

For desert two sorbets, melon and orange. Both light and fresh, a perfect palate cleanser - however it came with massive ginger biscuit - don't be deceived by the 'ginger snap' on the menu. It more like a massive Ben's Cookie - never a bad thing.

Overall a lovely lunch - I'll definitely be returning.

Tumblr

Because life as we know it is now lived through social media, I have fallen for yet another one of its offspring.  Tumblr.

And I love the simplicity of it -  go here to see what I'm sharing.

Its not very extensive at the moment!

Aldo Rise Collection

So its going from strength to strength with collections ranging from Jonathan Saunders to Preen and this SS12 I have my eyes set on these amazing Preen shoes.

Perfect for both trousers, a maxi skirt or midi - the heel is geometric - the print floral. Beyond perfect. Plus designer shoes at only £135. Win!
